Because of the longstanding interest in history at IIHR, staff and researchers here have made special efforts to preserve documents, objects, and photographs relating to IIHR’s historical development. These are housed in a formal Archives repository on the fourth floor of Stanley Hydraulics Laboratory. Use of the Archive is detailed in a Collections Policy.

Historical studies throughout the 20th century resulted in the publication of numerous articles and books related to historic topics. IIHR also tends a History of Hydraulics Rare Book Collection, one of the finest in this subject area, which is housed in Special Collections in the university’s Main Library.

Scholars and students engaged in historical investigations are encouraged to make use of these resources. Interested individuals should contact IIHR Archivist Jackie Hartling Stolze.
