IIHR Centennial: Postponed

New dates in 2022 coming soon!

IIHR Centennial Exhibit at Old Capitol extended through May 2021

Drone view of the Iowa River and Stanley Hydraulics LabIIHR has made the difficult decision to postpone most of the August centennial festivities until 2022. We want everyone to focus on staying safe and healthy this year!

We are seeking a new date, likely in August or September 2022, to reschedule The Big Splash! This would provide a great opportunity to coordinate the celebration of IIHR’s centennial with Hancher’s 50th anniversary and the University of Iowa’s 175th birthday, both in 2022. It will be a massive event!

IIHR’s alumni and friends reunion (originally scheduled for August 12–14) and Gala Birthday party (August 13) will also be rescheduled. The new dates for those activities hinge on the new dates for The Big Splash! We will share the new dates and other updates as they unfold.

If you are planning to attend the Eighth International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM8), please note that it has been postponed until August 9–11, 2021. Details are available on the conference website (https://icfm2020.org).

New: IIHR’s centennial exhibit at the University of Iowa Pentacrest Museums (Old Capitol) has been extended through May 2021! Although the museum is closed now because of the coronavirus crisis, we hope you’ll stop by when it reopens to check out “A River Flowed through It: Iowa’s Legacy in Fluid Mechanics.” The museum is open 10 am–5 pm Tuesday–Saturday, and 1–5 pm on Sunday (closed Mondays). https://oldcap.uiowa.edu/

We look forward to seeing everyone in 2022!
